Tennis Lessons on the South Side of Indianapolis

South Side Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana

The south side is home base. Coach Bruce Hartrich has taught here since 1994, and every weekly private, semi-private, and group session on the schedule runs on south-side courts — no cross-town drive required.

    Which south-side neighborhoods are served

Students come from Perry Township, Franklin Township, Beech Grove, Southport, Homecroft, Garfield Park, Center Grove, and Greenwood. Most of them are 10 to 20 minutes from the courts, which is why weekly lesson attendance on the south side is far more consistent than it is for families driving in from the north side.

If you live inside the I-465 loop south of Downtown, you are close enough for a weekday-evening slot that does not eat your whole evening.

    The courts

Southport High School and Perry Meridian High School are the primary complexes — multiple lit outdoor courts, dependable surfaces, and free parking at both. Because the schedule concentrates here, south-side students get first notice on cancellations and new openings.

Winter moves indoors through partner facilities on a rolling basis. Indoor slots fill fast between November and March, so ask early.

    Formats and pricing

Private lessons are $80 per hour, semi-private $50 per player, adult group $26 per session, and junior group $30 per session. Group sessions are capped at six players and grouped by skill so nobody stands around.

Many south-side families run one weekly private plus a weekend group for juniors; adults typically pair the weekly group with occasional privates before league play.

High-school players on the south side

A meaningful share of the junior roster plays for Southport, Perry Meridian, Roncalli, Franklin Central, Beech Grove, and Center Grove. In-season lesson plans are coordinated so they support team practice rather than duplicating it.

Late-summer tryout prep is the busiest block of the year — book six weeks out if your player is aiming at varsity.
